These devices include an amplifier (central processing unit), a specialized computer software, a number of electrodes attached on the head (in neurofeedback) and a number of sensors (in the biofeedback) to point at different parts of the body which receive brain wave feedback from the head, in order to reform them, based on conditioning.
Research has shown when there’s a fault in the normal pattern of brain waves, disturbances such as ADHD, sleep disorders, restlessness, mood disorders and so on occur. These abnormalities alone can significantly reduce functions of every individual, especially in learning process.
A neurofeedback device is like a mirror. It shows brain waves at a specific point in the brain with the help of electrodes on the surface of the head. Its software, based on the principle of conditioning, activates the waveform at that point of the brain. This device is completely non-invasive and only reflects and corrects the brain waves.
Tavanyab was sponsored by the Australian Embassy in February 2012 to purchase the two-channel neurofeedback devices. A training workshop for the rehabilitation team was held in order to deepen their knowledge of neurofeedback and its clinical applications.
The workshop included items such evaluating references and identifying disturbed patterns, choosing appropriate interventions, cognitive training and treatment. After completing the necessary training, the rehabilitation team (Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and Psychologist), were awarded the Certificate of Validity for Neurofeedback from Tehran University.
This device has a tremendous impact on improving attention, concentration, mood and relaxing the child. Parents and coaches are fully satisfied by this method, and it has accelerates the treatment process.
The overall number of sessions is 60. The first phase of the treatment is between 10 and 15 sessions. Based on the duration of the first course of treatment, as well as considering its effects on the continuation of treatment or its discontinuation, therapist decides to continue the treatment or not. Most patients successfully complete the first phase of treatment and continue the second phase. At the end of the treatment, its effects on the brain waves and the individual's performance remains constant and doesn’t eliminate.
The neurofeedback treatment sessions, as well as other rehabilitation services, are 100% free and aim to improve and accelerate the process of rehabilitation.
